Hoover—not the dog that dies at the end of the eponymous movie.
Hoover’s plane sports a bright yellow paint job with green lettering, and it perhaps isn’t the prettiest palette Ford could have pulled from in creating its one-off Mustang. Starting with a yellow Shelby GT350, Ford fitted bright green neon underbody lighting, green-tinted window glass, and a tall and—you guessed it—green-accented wing. It’s all a bit much, but there’s no denying the visual connection to the Ole Yeller plane. Last year’s Mustang Apollo Edition and2012’s Red Tails Mustang were far more attractive.
There are more successful elements of the car, including the black-painted Forgiato wheels, 3D Carbon body kit, Recaro seats, and the GT350’s standard six-speed manual transmission. Looks aside, the Mustang will be auctioned off to support a good cause—in this case, EAA youth education—and previously auctioned aero-themed Mustangs have raised a total of $3 million for charity.
